Visit to the household in Dragosinci village
As part of the AGFORWEB project, the part of study visit was organized in a household in Dragosinci, where Uroš Veličanin showcased an impressive agroforestry system. He emphasized his innovative method of raising pigs in an oak forest, demonstrating how livestock and forest resources can be effectively integrated.
Uros currently keeps currently 10 pigs that reside year-round in a fenced section of the forest, primarily feeding on acorns, with a small amount of supplementary feed provided during the summer when acorns are less plentiful. He also presented various products, for degustation, made from the animals he raises and the resources available on his farm, including goat cheese and kashkaval, as well as beverages like juices, rakija, and brandies, illustrating the potential of sustainable agroforestry practices. What he is doing serves as a global example of agroforestry practices, and we hope it will be recognized as such in Serbia as well through this project.
